Ceiling Leaks
Ceiling Leaks happen when water seeps through from the above unit flooring into your ceiling.It indicates the waterproof membrane of the above unit flooring has malfunction due to wear and tear. It normally occurs in the bathroom or toilet. Damp patches could be seen on the ceiling and in some serious cases, water drips from the ceiling.
Repair Method
Repair is carried out on the above unit. Hack the entire floor finishing. Remove the toilet bowl or bathtub in the bathroom.
Remove the debris / loose particles after hacking. Lay at least a layer of a waterproof membrane onto the flooring and allow it to dry for a few hours. The membrane shall also be applied upturned against the wall,kerb or pipes for at least 0.15m from the floor level.
Next, lay a layer of at least 20mm thick waterproof screed (cement), follow by floor tiles and pedestrial pan after allowing the screed to dry. The screed has to be at a gentle slope to prevent water stagnant.
